Our Mission

The Oman Disabled Diver has dedicated itself to improving the physical and social well being of people with disabilities through the sport of scuba diving and to developing a network of professional facilities for disabled divers in the Sultanate of Oman.

ODD is organizing dive events for handicapped people in all major cities of Oman on a regular base. It offers the disabled the opportunity to participate in an introduction to diving under the supervision of an experienced team consisting of specialized dive instructors, diving doctors and physiotherapists.

In many countries diving is already part of the physical therapy used for handicapped people. “Inwater activities” have a positive influence on the body and empower mental and physical fitness. Post incident depressions can be healed and disabled people motivated to get back to social activities.

Diving gives new trust, often a boost of self‐confidence, positive energy (physically and mentally) and the possibility to share a passion with other people either disabled or not.

Oman offers great diving from Musandam to Salalah and is famous for its huge variety of marine life. Our mission is to give disabled people the chance to discover and to enjoy the beauty of the Arabian Sea.

So who are we?

When I was approached by Tariq Al Khabori I did not know that a group of very special people aspired to establish an association involved with diving and the disabled. Upon researching more into disabled diving in Oman and the realizations of its events and the fulfillment of amazement and motivation of its members I was truly moved and wanted to focus on the association and make it one of my key initiativesSayyid Nasr Bin Badr Bin Hamed AlBusaidy.

Members & NGO's

ODD is proud to say that it's staff is its backbone. ODD is gifted to have the right members all the time with the leadership of Tariq Jawad Al Khabori and Stefanie Trier. ODD have very dedicated and well qualified divers who know the ins and out of this sport.

Sayyid Nasr Bin Badr Al Busaidi who accepted to be the Patron Chief has cemented the place of ODD. Sayyid Nasr who is a professional diver himself organized seminars to educate and bring awareness to hospitals in Oman on Hyperbaric Medicine. Without their support this event would have not taken place so successfully all these years.

Sponsors

ODD takes this opportunity to extend a heart-felt thank you for your commitment to making this event so successful. It was the vision of the Board of Directors and the Planning Committee to help, entertain, and provide a networking forum for our members in a pleasant, comfortable environment.

Your generous contribution helped make our vision a reality by helping the physically disabled see a new life in an environment as beautiful and professional as it can be.

Thank you once more for your generous sponsorship over the years and we are looking forward to working together to make our events a stunning success. Your support is not something we take likely and is very much appreciated by everyone connected with the club.
